Interim Manager

By: Robert Thomson, Posted on: 2008-08-05

Interim management is identified as a from the point of view of time restricted implementation of an aim oriented task by an independent manager. The interim manager is usually under a service agreement, thus does not have the status of an employee. Some enterprises cover interim uses with its flexible solution of the management on demand. The time is on an average between 6 and 9 months and approximately the half of the interim mandates are changed into a permanent position toward the end of the interim order. Executive Search
is the search for top managers for the occupation of vacant leading positions. Mostly this happens by headhunter and direct address. One tries to woo managers who fill a similar position currently away. Executive Search is common also under the concept Head Hunting and direct address. Mostly this methodology is extraordinary time expensive.
A personal consulting firm is engaged by its client, the searching enterprise, to look for a candidate of a certain experience and industry-specific profile. At first the client describes the profile. The searcher gathers a list of aim companies, in which potential candidates are suspected. Analyzing the aim enterprises is called Ident or ecg mapping. Mentioning these by phone and qualifying them roughly is called executive recruitment. This process is often carried out by external service providers such as CEO Europe. So money and time can be saved and the chances to find a suitable candidate also will increase.
A personal conversation, the so-called "interview" is conducted and summarized. References also will be checked. Suitable candidates are introduced personally to the executive recruitment agency in the subsequent "presentation". Due to the importance of the open position the searching enterprises usually see a relevant number of candidates. If the candidate and the potential employer reach an agreement the candidate can sign the contract and begin the temporary assignment.
Mostly a complete search process lasts for 3-4 months up to the placing. Although there are enterprises which are placed very well within a country or a certain region, most of them don't have worldwide presence nor operate on international level. Similarly as in the case of advertising agencies such enterprises follow an international network but keep their legal and economic independence. Besides, regional firms have more specific data and contacts. Furthermore they frequently differentiate themselves by offering supplementary services to the Executive Search.
Hence in order to find a suitable executive quickly it is strongly recommended to engage an executive search enterprise that is well positioned in the region the assignment is located. CEO Europe is the first choice.
