As pet lovers, we are going to photograph our animals just as we would our children. Some of us have even been known to have the dog sit on Santa’s lap for a photo at Christmas. While photographs can be great, they have some disadvantages over a pet portrait.
Convenience
If you’ve ever tried to deliberately capture an amazing pose for one of your animals on film, you know it can be a real challenge. Cats and dogs can be adorable, but they can be very stubborn at times. They do things on their own terms most of the time.
The nice thing about having a dog portrait made is that you can take those photos of those cute moments you were able to snap quickly. You can have them transformed into an actual piece of art that you can proudly display in your home. It’s much easier than trying to get all of your animals to look at the camera simultaneously.
Creativity
Another drawback of photographs is that they can only capture reality. If your favorite dog has passed away or if your family member who was a dog lover died, you can’t take a photograph of them anymore. However, art doesn’t have to work that way.
Only in a pet portrait can you have something created that didn't happen. For example, if you wish you could have had a picture of your current dog and your deceased dog together this is impossible with a camera, but achievable on canvas. This can be a very heartwarming dog lover gift.
The dog portrait can also let you put your pet in unique locations or dressed up in costumes and use fun props.
